Welcome to the Grand Lodge of the United States, Our history has enchanted many of masonic scholars over the last 137 years it amost qualifies as a legend, but the freemasons really did exsist and this all happened during the civil war. In 1863, during the midst of a major conflict - the Central Grand Lodge of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite , Western Jurisdiction was established.

The Grand Lodge of the United States, WJ has several Grand Lodges across the United States, each states has a Grand Lodge with Lodges within the District.  The District of Columbia is the only Grand Lodge in a territory (i.e.not state).

Traditionally, in the 1700-1800's a Grand Master would make freemasons on sight to establish lodges and Grand lodges. Today such a practice is rarely done, unless a lodge is in distress of becoming moribund and brethren are needed to continue the lodge or grandlodge's exsistance. Grand lodges are traditionally created with three lodges. A Grand Lodge can create several subbordinate lodges within their country. Lodges must belong to a duly constituted Grand Lodge to have regularity in freemasonry.

In 1894 Scottish lodges began working under the authority of Grand Lodge. The Supreme Council controlled only upper degrees 4th-33rd.

We are always looking for volunteers. Give us a email or blog us anytime.   Our doors are always open.
